What is a bilingual concordancer?

A concordancer is a program that looks up words and expressions in a corpus of texts. When a query is submitted, the system searches its database and displays all the occurrences it finds of that query, each in its context.

A bilingual concordancer offers the added advantage of finding and displaying the translation of each passage that satisfies the query. Such concordancers are possible thanks to alignment algorithms which automatically establish the links between corresponding segments of translated texts.
